Yesterday we learnt that the Welsh government had decided to cancel all exams in the summer for Year 11 and Year 13 students in Wales. At the time of writing, there is no news from the government regarding exams for students in England. The Welsh decision will increase the focus on what the government plans to do in England to mitigate the impact of the Covid pandemic on students.
In the meantime, Mrs Gallagher and I have spoken to all Year 11 students to reassure them that we are here to support them. We will continue with our plans to prepare students for the full suite of summer exams while also being mindful that, if they are cancelled or changed in any way, we can respond quickly to new requirements. We have encouraged students to speak to their staff regarding anything they need, from revision tips to talking about any anxieties they may have, so that we can best meet all their needs. Provided students try their best and work with us, we will be able to ensure each student is able to fulfil his/her potential.
You will have received a letter directing you to videos from departments about how to support and help students in the ‘how to revise’ process. Please watch these and use them to support the students in their preparation for the mocks which commence on Tuesday 24th November. Students will receive their timetables this week so that they can map out their revision programme accordingly.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Mrs J Veal.
